September 2009
It's been a few months since I have written a newsletter, and a lot has happened since the last newsletter.
DIGITAL DICTATION
This is still proving to be popular as more people are finding it difficult to find or justify the price of the old tape based systems. We are finding that as digital is getting used by more authors within an organisation the level of sophistication of the software goes up, and we are happy to help out with that.
The newer Olympus machines have proved very popular, however we also really like the Grundig 420 which has a nice coloured screen and is just as easy to use as the others machines available.
DIGITAL TRANSCRIPTION
Whilst we supply a lot of transcription equipment we also appreciate that many people need to outsource their dictation to be typed up off-site. To that end we are happy to let you know that we have tied up with a UK based company who are able to offer rapid turnaround, no start-up costs and specialist knowledge. If you are interested in this then let us know
SPEECH RECOGNITION
As you probably know, we have never been great fans of speech recognition, however I met someone today who changed my mind. What he was able to do with Dragon Naturally Speaking was amazing. Don't get me wrong, it needs training and time to get to a level that I would be confident using. Did you know that for every regular user of speech recognition, there are 40 people who have bought it and don't use it? It all comes down to training. If you are interested in Garry giving you some training let me know, I will be happy to ask him to contact you.
